Astro Lou ("we", "us") is operated by Die Digitalen GmbH, Rautistrasse 60, 8048 Zürich, Switzerland. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we need to deliver your daily readings. This page explains what we collect, why, and what control you have.
What we collect
- Account data: email, name, password hash, sign-in method (Apple, Google, email).
- Birth data: date, time, and location of birth — required to calculate your natal chart.
- App usage: readings viewed, chats with Lou, subscription status, push-notification tokens.
- Product analytics: anonymous and identified events about how you use the app, so we can improve it (see "Cookies and analytics" below).
- Crash and error data: stack traces and device metadata when something breaks.
Why we collect it
- To calculate your natal chart and generate personalized daily readings.
- To send you reading notifications at your local morning time.
- To process your subscription and trial.
- To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, receipts).
- To send you our weekly cosmic newsletter, only if you opted in.
- To debug crashes and understand which parts of the app work and which don't.
Who processes your data
We use a small set of trusted vendors. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Fly.io — hosts our backend and database.
- PostHog (EU region) — product analytics. Data stays in the EU.
- Sentry — crash and error monitoring.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives an opaque user ID and your purchase events.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — generates your personalized readings. Receives your profile data, including your birth date, birth time, birth location, and life-area selections, so it can write a reading tailored to you.
- astrology-api.io — calculates your natal chart from your birth data.
- Mailgun (EU region) — sends transactional and newsletter emails.
- OneSignal — sends push notifications.
- Apple App Store — handles iOS payments. We don't see or store your payment details.
- Google Play — handles Android payments. We don't see or store your payment details.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Cookies and analytics
On our website (this site), we use a single first-party cookie (astrolou_consent) to remember your cookie preference, and — if you accept — PostHog cookies for product analytics.
PostHog is hosted in the EU. We do not use ads, retargeting, or third-party analytics.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
Your rights
Under GDPR and Swiss data protection law you can:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data — most fields are editable in the app under Profile.
- Delete your account and all associated data — available in the app under Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us.
- Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
- Export your data in a portable format.
Data retention
We keep your account and birth data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, birth data, readings, and chat history within 30 days. Anonymized analytics events may be retained longer, but they no longer identify you. Backups are kept for up to 90 days, then rotated out.
